CHACE RESIDENCE - TIBURON

The transformation of a typical California Ranch house as the setting for a noted Bay Area Asian Art Collector. Our goal was to create a quiet contemplation garden of Stone and Bamboo, highlighting several works of Art from the owner's varied collection. In the entrance way of the small front garden we began by introducing texture with the natural surface of random pattern multi colored slate. The subtle detail of a contrasting green slate river visually bisects the walkway bridges between the public and private sides of the home. The Japanese inspired Arbor draws you toward the entry with it's antique Balinese guardian figures standing sentinel. A gentle background murmur of a water sculpture further distances you from the outside with tall stalks of Bamboo swaying overhead. The rear decks respond directly to the magnificent views of the San Francisco Bay. Clearing away the visual clutter with low planters defining the perimeter of the space, we leave the wider panorama room to speak while softening the space with roses in pots as accents. Using another superb piece of sculpture selected from the owner's collection, a water feature adds an elegant note.
